Background
Is he a valiant king, or a bloodthirsty conqueror? Richard I moved freely between legend and reality, myth and history. Will a new tale of the fierce king who leaped into the front lines of battle after formulating a whole array of plans blossom in Chaldea? Stay tuned!
Profile 1
The Lionheart King was a devout believer who occasionally committed acts that demonstrated a total lack of fear, even of God. He is neither an Alter nor an Alter Ego. This form, too, is merely a fragment of his true self—a mercurial monarch who experienced and embodied a multitude of emotions.
Profile 2
Height/Weight: 178cm, 66kg
Origin: History
Region: Europe
Alignment: Lawful-Balanced
Sub-Attribute: Human
Gender: Male
His inability to speak English, in spite of being the King of England, is well-known but his Heroic Spirit self tries to keep this a secret.
Profile 3
Height/Weight: 178cm, 66kg
Origin: History?
Region: Europe
Alignment: Lawful-Balanced
Sub-Attribute: Human
Gender: Male
His name, the essence of his soul, and the flames of purgatory have fused, transforming him into a literal lion king. While his form has grown considerably larger, it shares the same statistics with the original Spirit Origin that serves as his core.
Profile 4
Personality
True to the name "Lionheart," he is quite brave. He understands the consequences of his actions and while he is not quite either reckless or foolhardy, the way his emotions often dictate his behavior makes him a bit...odd. He may calmly analyze the situation and then elect to allow a certain emotion explode in that situation, but ultimately allow all of his emotions to do so in the end...making his personality troublesome to say the least.
He is consistently friendly to Master. It may be said that there is little to no trace of anger or tyranny in his Spirit Origin, but since Master never does anything to provoke his wrath in the first place, he regards Master as a good friend. To Richard, Master is not his lord, but rather a ferocious friend possessed of a passion greater than his own, one who dares to embark on a journey where angels fear to tread. And so he believes a friend like Master is worth risking his life for, even more so than a lord or member of his own family.
Profile 5
He became a black lion because, having committed countless sins in life, he prayed to God to expose himself to the flames of purgatory until the end of the world. His incredible bravery, which earned him the name "Lionheart" led him to fear nothing, not screaming his resentment for God, nor prioritizing his own desires to trample over ethical barriers, nor taking thousands of prisoners and executing them with his own hands. The king was utterly without fear. He did not fear the flames of purification that burned up his soul, nor when he turned his army against his own father, nor when he killed innocent, defenseless people.
He did not even fear love.
Profile 6
While alive, his personality was mercurial, changing drastically from one moment to the next, reflecting his extreme emotional volatility. But his Spirit Origin as a Saber strongly emphasized his friendly side. However, his essence remains unchanged, so he can still cut down his enemies with an affable smile and not a second's hesitation. Should he ever find Master to be unpleasant, it's entirely possible he would cut Master down before a Command Spell could be used to stop him. That fearless courage, which might lead him to his own demise, is what makes him a truly troublesome Lionheart.
A shady court mage that went by the name of Saint Germain once said, "A man with such troublesome traits as yours was somehow blessed by heaven with royal blood and martial prowess... Ah, how dreadful! Your mother must have constantly told you heroic tales to give you good role models, yes!?"
And thus, his admiration of myriad heroes has made him perceive Chaldea as a paradise beyond the reach of even the Holy Grail's power. No wonder even a king like him can't help acting like a fanboy.
Profile 7
Had he manifested with a Rider Spirit Origin, it would have been possible for him to have been consumed by his rage and hostility―the polar opposite of a Saber―and he would not have hesitated to embrace vice as a path to victory. In such a case, he would have become a conquering tyrant, pouring every last resource into war without the slightest hesitation. Had King Arthur and the Round Table, whom he idolized, appeared to stop him, he would have respectfully challenged them to war by bringing a thousand forms of tyranny to bear against them.
Even if his Spirit Origin was a Rider, he would have ultimately reached a state where he would burn in purgatory if the same conditions were met. In that sense, perhaps the very essence of Richard, regardless of Spirit Origin, makes him the very flames of purgatory himself.
Profile 8
Lionheart (Swift): A
A skill that embodies the name Lionheart. His fearless valor and swift advance sublimated into a skill. It inspires dread and caution in enemies while boosting morale in allies and hastening all marches.
Talented in All: A
This skill is based on the legends showcasing his talents in a wide variety of fields, like martial arts, the arts, and romance. Anything he pursued during his lifetime is rated rank B or higher. He also mastered new endeavors at a dizzying pace. His genius nearly caused him to become spoiled in childhood but his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, would admonish him, saying, "Can you say that in front of the Round Table?" This always helped him to rein himself in.
Profile 9
Excalibur
Rank: D~A+
NP Type: Anti-Army
Range: 1-99
Maximum Targets: 1-1000
Ever-Distant Sword of Victory.
A certain Mystic obtained during his lifetime, born from his yearning for Arthurian legend and his life lived as heir to King Arthur's legacy. This power, combined with the legend that he named every weapon he wielded Excalibur, became a Noble Phantasm. Any weapon he wields—even the flames of purgatory—can be treated as Excalibur, though it will never reach the heights of the true sacred sword...not even if he were to grasp the genuine Excalibur. Normally a Noble Phantasm, it functions as a skill in this game.
Profile 10
『Rounds of Lionheart』
Rank: A
NP Type: Anti-Army
Range: -
Maximum Targets: -
Play the Lion on the Round Cross.
A Noble Phantasm that uses the wielder's own Spirit Origin as a catalyst to manifest those connected to them in life as attendants, escorts, or guides. The number of such people summoned with this Noble Phantasm varies based on the Master's magical energy and the land's foundation. Though merely auxiliary entities, they are reliable allies who appear and vanish like shadows in battle. They include the lingering shadows of a knight who failed to die at Camlann, the crossbowman who slew Richard the Lionheart, an unknown being claiming to be Ivanhoe, the maidens of the Lake and one of their countless droplets, the peerless knight whom Lionheart never defeated, and a verse from the epic of Robin Hood and his band.
Richard may be unaware, but there is another as well. But there isn't quite enough time or space here to speak of it.
Profile 11
『Utopie Purgatoire』
Rank: A
NP Type: Anti-Army
Range: 99
Maximum Targets: 1-999
Roar Like a Lion, Sing the Murmur of Purgatory.
Richard the Lionheart not only devised military strategies, but would also sometimes charge across the battlefield faster than anyone else despite his position as king. His reckless fighting style itself became a Noble Phantasm. The question of whether the lions that appear while enveloped in the flames of purgatory have any connection to the English royal coat of arms is something probably not even the king himself understands.
Or perhaps, like the coat of arms, he tamed three lions within his own heart.
