Background
Vincent van Gogh was a painter active in Europe during the nineteenth century. His work was highly praised after his death, and even to this day he has many fans worldwide. Obviously, this artist was historically male, given his name, self-portrait, and the few photographs of him.
On the other hand, this Foreigner who dresses like a young boy and calls herself "Van Gogh" is drastically different from the man as recorded in history, both in appearance and in gender. And yet, her artistic talent is unquestionably Van Gogh's. She is a big eater, jokes around, and chuckles in a gloomy manner while painting pictures all over the place.
So who exactly is this person...?

Profile 2
The historical man Vincent van Gogh was born to a Dutch minister's family in 1853. After working as an art dealer and book seller, he attempted to become a missionary, but ultimately gave up, and instead set out to become a painter himself. He studied under members of the Hague School, and later formed his own artistic style after being influenced by Impressionism.
After moving to Arles, France, he created many masterpieces such as "Sunflowers". However, his mental health started to suffer after his relationship with his roommate Gaugin deteriorated, which led to the infamous incident of Van Gogh cutting his own ear off. From then on, Van Gogh continued to paint even while suffering from his mental state, and in 1890, at the young age of 37, Van Gogh took his own life. Many scholars argue that there are some inconsistencies surrounding his death.
Van Gogh preferred to use yellow hues and sunflower motifs, as they were symbolic of the sun's rays. He also collected Japanese ukio-e paintings, and would even incorporate them into his own work. In his later years, he was drawn to include cypress trees in his works, and may scholars suggest that they were representations of his view on life and death.

The Yellow House. Van Gogh's second Noble Phantasm.
Van Gogh's home in Arles, southern France, which was both the place where Van Gogh's talent truly flourished as well as the place where Van Gogh's dreams shattered, is reproduced in a painting. This Noble Phantasm sends the mistral storm that assaults southern France against Van Gogh's enemies, while granting divine protection to her allies. However, the Noble Phantasm inflicts a curse upon both parties.
Profile 4
Her True Name is Clytie van Gogh. Clytie is a water nymph of Greek mythology, and one of the Oceanids, born to Okeanos and Tethys. She was Apollo's lover, but was driven mad with jealousy when his affections turned to Leucothoe, the daughter of the Persian king Orchamus, and Clytie's schemes of defamation led to Leucothoe's demise. However, Clytie failed to win back Apollo's love, and she was left to stare longingly at the sun, eventually transforming into a solitary flower.
Van Gogh's personality and body are mainly Clytie's. This is why her appearance mixes flowers and jellyfish as she undergoes Ascension, as well as why she dresses like she's in mourning in her second Ascension, which reflects the deep sadness and regret she constantly experiences. Her low self-esteem and flirtatious smile are likely due to her self-loathing after her own foolish actions cost her everything she loved. Perhaps she is so insistent that she is Van Gogh out of a desire to hide from the parts of her that are not Van Gogh.

The Starry Night.
Van Gogh's first Noble Phantasm/Anti-Personnel Noble Phantasm. A wondrous painting that envisions the view from a window in the Saint-Paul asylum. The artist's view of the world overflows from the canvas, depicting something beyond human wisdom, creating a Reality Marble.
In his later years, Van Gogh continued to paint in search of faith and goodness, even though he suffered from unknown mental disorders. This tenacity that bordered on insanity was ultimately exploited by those from the Outer Realm, and it became a forbidden Noble Phantasm that transforms the Spirit Origins and mental structures of other Servants.
Profile 6
As a patchwork being made up of many things, Van Gogh constantly endures an unending identity crisis. This anxiety soon drove her mad, changing her own Spirit Origin into an evil god of flowers that has the potential to single-handedly initiate a crisis which may lead to the end of humanity. Before that happens...can you give her a stable sense of self? Her Master's burden is a heavy one.
...Yet this surprisingly stubborn and cunning being is what the Servant Clytie van Gogh is all about. Masters who go on many adventures with her and learn to understand her troubling personality, her craftiness, her iron will, her strong sense of duty, and faithful camaraderie may eventually form a bond with her and guide her as a loyal and dependable advisor, thereby preventing her fall to madness.
