However, there is no definitive proof that the queen or her kingdom actually existed. In the East African nation of Ethiopia, one of the possible sites of the kingdom, there is a splendid myth of the establishment of the nation, wherein the queen marries King Solomon and becomes the mother of the first emperor.

There are also legends from various regions that claim she had an inhuman appearance. In Arabia, it's said that the queen had hairy legs and the hooves of a donkey. In Southern France, she's described as having a webbed foot like that of a goose. There are some stories that even describe her as the daughter born of a female spirit demon and a male human. Just like a prism changes a ray of light into various colors as it passes through, it is thought that the queen possessed phantasmagorical powers which gave her the ability to change her appearance.
