Background
A Witch hiding amidst the modern world. The last of her kind. Alice has lived in the world of magecraft from a very young age. Owing to certain events in her life, she moved away from her homeland of England and settled in a provincial Japanese city.
A born Witch, Alice employs a variety of Ploy Kickshaws—monsters out of nursery rhymes—as familiars. Because she is quiet and avoids getting involved with others, she feels most comfortable living on her own.
Profile 1
Height/Weight: 152cm, 42kg
Origin: Witch on the Holy Night
Region: England, Japan
Alignment:
Chaotic-Good (First and Second Ascensions)
Chaotic-Evil (Third Ascension)
Sub-Attribute:
Human (First and Second Ascensions)
Earth (Third Ascension)
Gender: Female
A secret romantic who keeps her beliefs close to her chest, and an icon of a girl who seems special in her own way, but not as much as one might think.
Profile 2
Alice is Aoko's friend and magecraft instructor. Her house and sole estate is the setting of "Witch on the Holy Night." She is the sole heir to the Kuonji family and business conglomerate. Her mother is descended from Witches who trace their lineage to Yumina, and Alice was originally meant to be conceived as a rare Witch scion. However, her mother's marriage to the eldest Kuonji son resulted in her current position.
Alice is essentially the daughter of an outsider to regular magical practices, and as such had the rights to administer the local spiritual territory cut in half, with the other portion going to Aoko due to the friendship between Aoko's grandfather and Alice's mother. In order to protect Shiroinuzuka, the hill atop which her house is located, she cooperates with Aoko to protect Misaki.
Alice is a wonderland-style Witch who creates the fairy tale monsters known as Ploys Kickshaw. The Witches' earliest familiars went by a different name, but since Alice's mother and her mothers before her took an interest in fairy tales originating from Mother Goose, the familiars gained names and powers associated with those nursery rhymes.
Alice's mother—that is to say, the Meinster Witches—dealt in magical "charms" that ignored the rules of the magecraft world, to say nothing of human society. However, ever since they began to create Ploy Kickshaws, their powers took on an even more mysterious quality, able to manifest almost anything associated with fairy tales, be it medicinal herbs, potions of physical transformation, or items that grant three wishes.
Being descended from Yumina, Meinsters are very nearly Magicians in their own right. They deal chiefly in fairy tale Magic which gives form to miracles, changes, and conclusions that cannot be explained by manifestation of fables or existing magecraft foundations. They practice fantasy and safeguard it from the laws of physics, using the Fifth True Theoretical Factor (True Ether).
Profile 3
Outward Personality
Unsentimental, indifferent, and expressionless. Alice gives off an even more unapproachable aura than Aoko does. She dislikes people and noise. When anything displeases her, she tends to simply leave the room without protest. It isn't that she lacks emotion, but she maintains this distant stance due to being a Witch. At her core, Alice is gentle, curious, slightly short-tempered, and a bit sulky...though she has not realized this due to many years of carefully managing her emotions. From time to time, her girlish side does make itself known through the cracks in her cool exterior. Alice has no desire to interfere with the lives of ordinary people, but will pluck them like weeds if they happen to get in her way. She is very aggressive when it comes to this. She seems indifferent to most things, but anything that runs up against Alice's pride (her side as a Witch, and her care for the mansion) will be met with unrestrained censure. Or utter extermination.
Territory Creation: A
Builds first-rate workshops, unlike Aoko.
Item Creation: A
Creates first-rate tools, unlike Aoko.
Folklore Defense: B
A unique protective attribute: monsters are only hurt by that which defeated them in their legends, not modern weapons. Alice possesses Damage Cut against all attacks other than Noble Phantasms.
Profile 4
Inner Personality
A world-weary and philosophical outlook.
...That said, she does not reject human interaction. For example, Alice finds her classmates' small talk meaningless and irrelevant, but she does not view it with contempt. She concludes that it must be meaningful to them.
On the other hand, Alice fiercely guards the memories of the time her mother was still alive. She closes herself off from others because she does not want to taint her precious memories. She strives to be a proper Witch, but her inner nature, as previously described, is simply that of any other girl.
Aoko is special to her, as both her comrade-in-arms and accomplice. Alice feels respect and affection for her first friend and peer. As for Soujyuro, he is "a strange person," yet not displeasing, so she'll keep an eye on him for now.
Alice also has a possessive and obsessive streak. She becomes enraged when she loses something or when someone she trusts betrays her. She will never let go of a possession once she has acquired it. This is plain in her outward attitude as well as her inner nature. She utterly lacks a sense of humor.
Yumina: C
The Meinster lineage. Alice lacks Guts in her active skills, but when she uses any means to revive herself with Guts, her injuries will be almost completely healed. Dramatically increases the HP restored by Guts. If she fails a Death check and dies, Guts will automatically activate. Under certain conditions, Alice simply will not die; she cannot die by any means of killing that stem from hostility, fear, random chance, or natural causes (she resurrects from any state). However, being killed out of love is the one thing her immortality does not function against.
Profile 5
Diddle Diddle: A
Banquet of the Night. A sweet poison granted to the girl.
"Hey diddle diddle, The cat and the fiddle..."
The black cat's bell rouses a fairy tale from its slumber. The tableware's revelry rings through the night, leaping over the moon and beyond. Across the stars, to that distant shore, forevermore.
"And the dish ran away with the spoon."
Thames Troll: C
The Bridge Giant. It is the world's most precious Mystic, bequeathed to the girl.
"...Broken down, broken down."
Upon the river are throngs of prisoners. Beneath it, sacrifices uncounted. The bridge-shaped monstrosity resembles nothing so much as a colossal arm.
"London Bridge is broken down, My fair lady."
Lost Robin Rondo: E
A tale unknown to all, gifted to the girl.
"Who killed Cock Robin? I, said the Sparrow..."
A black cat for the Magician. A robin for the last Witch.
"Who'll bear the pall? We, said the Wren..."
The knight's heart remains clear as day, even as he is killed again and again.
"When they heard the bell toll, For poor Cock Robin."
You who are spurned by death—one day, I shall teach you the meaning of a funeral.

『Great Three, Flat Snark』
Rank: A+
NP Type: Anti-Personnel
Range: 0-??
Maximum Targets: ??
Fairy-tale Monster, Oil of the Moon.
Resurrects the lost and abandoned with a powerful Bounded Field and places them under the wielder's control. When Flat Snark was activated in an abandoned amusement park, all the ruined detritus of the park—buses, Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, and more—came to life as Ploy Kickshaws.
Among the Ploys passed down to Kuonji Alice from her mother, the Great Three are the most powerful relics. Due to Flat Snark's ability to paste over the modern world's texture with that of the Age of Gods, it is regarded by the Mage's Association as more valuable, expensive, and monumental than an entire kingdom.
『Great Three, Wandersnatch』
Rank: A+
NP Type: Anti-Personnel
Range: 0-??
Maximum Targets: ??
Fairy-tale Monster, Rose Hound.
The greatest of the monsters Kuonji Alice can recreate, Wandersnatch is a Bounded Field of dense fog that can engulf an entire mountain or town.
Its name resembles that of the Bandersnatch, one of Lewis Carroll's fictional monsters. It is described as a beastly menagerie with sharp jaws and crimson claws that appears as a thick fog, or as a hound or lizard (dragon) with blood-red claws, just barely visible in the white fog. Its form cannot be seen; thus it is invincible, and prey who wander into its reach can neither resist nor escape. Only those who escape the world of white fog can claim to have seen the true identity of the entire Wandersnatch.
◆
Alice appears in "After Witch on the Holy Night" as Suspect A involved in the incident at Kumano Hot Springs. The case was solved after a series of events, but one fact was never explained: the death of a particular person at Kumano Hot Springs in 1999.
Aoko thought that he died protecting Alice. Alice knew that he spent his life for Aoko's sake.
She never actually saw or heard it happen, but had to confront that truth ten years prior.
