Yan Qing is one of the outlaws who joined the Stars of Destiny in the latter half of "The Water Margin," one of China's four great classic novels. A slight but handsome man, possessing exceptional martial arts and musical skills, he came to Mount Liang alongside his master, Lu Junyi.

While Yan Qing is, of course, a fictional character appearing in "The Water Margin," he is also known as the founder of a school of Chinese martial arts. Naturally, there is no truth to this, but the name of a famous gangster served to enhance the school's reputation.
