Now, she is the embodiment of the despair, rage, and sorrow the Heroic Spirit Marie Antoinette—who loves her people and country unreservedly and speaks happily of ideals—consciously discarded. Since she is another aspect of the Heroic Spirit Marie Antoinette, her life as a human was entirely the same as the French queen's. As she is now, however, she is keenly aware of her role as a tragic queen, and as a mother who lost her children.

Unlike the standard Marie Antoinette Spirit Origin, who exists without cursing her own misfortune and adversity, Marie Alter cries out for vengeance, brings destruction and ruin, and mocks all hope and ideals. She is, however, exceptionally gentle toward children (or Heroic Spirits in their juvenile forms). While she may be exceptionally gentle to them, she does not merely indulge them; when necessary, she will discipline them quite firmly. Her sense of maternal responsibility is stronger than that of the standard Spirit Origin Marie, however, her maternal instincts that go unfulfilled act as a shackle for her too. Even if there is a child that is now her own, she is still mindful of them simply because they are young.

Bloodstained Necklace: B+ A grand fraud that involved an extravagant necklace, said to have been set with diamonds worth 1.6 million livres. Though innocent, Marie Antoinette was accused of playing a part in this incident, which was dubbed the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace." Consequently, she became the target of public condemnation. This incident signaled the decline of royal authority. The necklace, which became symbolic of that decline, is now a skill for Marie Antoinette (Alter) to use. While it is typically a composite skill that includes Innocent Monster, its effects in this game differ. Guillotine Ricanante: B A Noble Phantasm of the same name expressed as a skill. A giant black blade appears from the void to strike its user's enemies in a manner evocative of the guillotine. My Love Is Eternal: EX The profound love for her children that remains even after being summoned with the Avenger Spirit Origin. Marie Alter's love, now transformed into an obsession, bestows multiple effects upon its target: astonishing defensive capabilities, self-regeneration, the regeneration of others, and the addition of pseudo-immortality.

The blade—the very blade which caused her death—symbolizes the French Revolution's success and the royal family's demise and is now wielded by Marie Alter.

『Vae Victis』 Rank: B+ NP Type: Anti-Nation Range: 1-80 Maximum Targets: 600 The Tragic Vicissitude, the Black Flowered Funeral Procession. A giant blooming black lily, blessed by Marie Antoinette (Alter). The black lily unleashes a curse, causing living things in range to wither and die while similarly destroying inanimate objects as well. It is the inversion of the French royal coat of arms (the Fleur-de-lis) which places a curse upon the monarchy. It is darkness without light. It is a deathly wail. Its True Name "Vae Victis" comes from the words of Brennus, the King of Gaul in the fourth century BC, originally an expression of contempt for the defeated Romans. By hurling these calamitous words at the defeated, Marie Alter foretells the future of defeat and downfall to all those who are proud and arrogant. The Fleur-de-lis is sometimes considered to be a stylized iris rather than a lily but in the past the French royal house associated the Fleur-de-lis with the lily of the Virgin Mary, revering it as a symbol of faith and nobility. For those who loved the royal household and its members, the Fleur-de-lis was seen as a beautiful lily.

In Ordeal Call II, she manifests as the Fourth Trial. There, she appears as Marie, the student council president, in Pseudo-Tokyo, and approaches Chaldea's Master. She wielded a familiar, an "Aggregation of Rage," made by an imaginary organ formed from blood containing her condensed despair, fury, and resentment. At one point she was forced to retreat after being ambushed by Count Cagliostro, but she was rescued by the dark shadow that was Monte Cristo's lingering presence at the last minute. Then, she bided her time, awaiting her chance to strike back. Eventually, when Count Cagliostro revealed his true nature, Marie managed to deliver a decisive blow with her Noble Phantasm. Later, she is summoned and manifests in Chaldea. Similar to Hassan of the Shining Star, she appears to possess memories from Ordeal Call II, though she seems unaware that her Spirit Origin is destined to vanish in the near future.
