Background
The world's most renowned avenger. This alternative Spirit Origin would never be possible under normal circumstances.
Edmond Dantès has taken this new form for a specific purpose. He originally manifested in this world with a Spirit Origin which could be said to be the very embodiment of vengeance-seekers. In comparison, this Spirit Origin is closer to the actual Count of Monte Cristo, who once staged an elaborate revenge plot in Paris. In particular, his fighting style, which focuses on the use of weapons, is markedly different from that of his base Spirit Origin.
Profile 1
Height/Weight: 185cm, 75kg
Origin: Dumas's "The Count of Monte Cristo"?
Region: France
Alignment: Chaotic-Evil
Sub-Attribute: Earth
Gender: Male
The sword he typically wields is one he also used while he lived, though it is not recorded in the writings of Dumas père.
Profile 2
An Edmond Dantès with a new Spirit Origin who manifested in Ordeal Call II. One Dantès is the one who imprisoned Master in the prison tower. The other Dantès was summoned to Chaldea later on. Though these two are distinct individuals (separate Spirit Origins), they are essentially the same person, as both share the same resolve and decided to answer their call of duty to lead their accomplice, the Master of Chaldea, to the end of their journey in the Antarctic.
They became one, but then split once more into two beings: a Dantès with resolve, who brought forth seven trials as duty demanded and the Dantès of regret who worried over the harshness of Master's journey. This Spirit Origin is based on resolve, the very mechanism of vengeance that drives his sense of fulfillment.
His True Name is Monte Cristo, a being much like that dreadful fiend, that very Count who staged his revenge in Paris—a Spirit Origin that embodies a cold-blooded, merciless killer.
Profile 3
『Paradis Château d'If』
Rank: B++
NP Type: Boundary/Trial
Range: Special
Maximum Targets: 1
You, Take the Path of Radiance.
Imposes seven trials upon the target's soul and mental state. The fourth Noble Phantasm of Edmond Dantès, who once imprisoned the Master of Chaldea for seven days as a Heroic Spirit under the King of Demon Gods Goetia (currently its True Name differs).
The Count of Monte Cristo's mental state is like an impregnable fortress, an impenetrable stronghold, while at the same time it's a prison that permits no living soul to escape. It infiltrates the mind of a single target who is within range, establishing a pseudo-reality marble to impose trials upon the target's soul and mental state through domination, erosion, and assimilation. The Monte Cristo who was registered as a Servant in Chaldea never declared possession of this Noble Phantasm nor revealed its True Name, but it has been registered as the first Noble Phantasm to the Monte Cristo Spirit Origin in Ordeal Call II.
This allowed him to capture Master once more, leading him to create Pseudo-Tokyo. To unleash its True Name, a Holy Grail or an equivalent powerful magical resource is required. In this game, True Name Release is typically not done.
Profile 4
『Paradis Château d'If』
Rank: A
NP Type: Anti-Personnel
Range: 0-70
Maximum Targets: 1
O Stars, Take the Path of Radiance.
It is essentially the same Noble Phantasm as the previously mentioned first Noble Phantasm, but since its performance drastically changes when used as an attack, it is registered as a separate Noble Phantasm. After swiftly capturing the target within his own prison, he closes in at high speed. After he launches a barrage of attacks from several giant claws formed from solidified black flames, he restrains the target with all his claws. He then allows his own magical energy to go berserk, causing an explosion, obliterating both the target and himself.
While the final explosion is immensely powerful, it is not the true strength of this Noble Phantasm. The true value of this Noble Phantasm as an offensive weapon lies in its accuracy. It draws the opponent into a mental prison, leaving them with no escape, then closes in at high speed (similar to the speed of the Noble Phantasm Enfer Château d'If from another Spirit Origin). In other words, it's a suicide attack that bypasses all checks, considered to be a doomed sure-hit attack. That is the true value of this Noble Phantasm.
Profile 5
During Ordeal Call II, the materialization of other Avengers by the Black Shadow was, strictly speaking, a transport rather than a summoning. And so Salieri's conjecture was correct. However, had it been Monte Cristo working alone, he lacked both the connection and magical energy to summon the Avengers, and so he had to use the help of a jet-black entity to make it work at all. According to the jet-black entity: "I might be his senior, but I can't say no when I see that a junior of mine comes to rely on me."
Half the reason the Black Shadow consistently maintained a jet-black shadowy state was a consequence of insufficient magical energy, but it was also a result of the dark entity's protection. It grants a bonus to nighttime action checks and stealth checks.
◆
The Dantès of resolve intentionally prevented Master from summoning Avengers at the beginning of Ordeal Call II. The Dantès of regret, or the Black Shadow, was somewhat lenient towards Master, which led to the removal of the summoning restrictions, forcibly bringing forth Jeanne Alter and Salieri. But ultimately, the Black Shadow lost its magical energy and the summoning restrictions were reimposed.
Profile 6
According to Monte Cristo, his Spirit Origin merely existed to part ways, but the changing Spirit Origins led to the new information being registered in Chaldea's Saint Graph, making it possible to summon him via Chaldea's summoning system. This was a miscalculation on his part. However, this Spirit Origin will disappear soon enough, just like the other Avengers.
"I'm destined to vanish swiftly. I cannot remain here."
"Even though it may blaze but a moment before fading, take this flame...and use it as you will!"
